Sisterhood

Phi Mu is truly a home away from home during the collegiate years. We build a support system to last a lifetime, encouraging each other to live a vibrant life and achieve our personal best. As the nation's second oldest sorority, Phi Mu is one of the largest networking organizations for women in the world.

Phi Mu even has two chapter officer positions dedicated to sisterhood development. The job of these women is to meet with members on an individual basis to enrich their Phi Mu experience and to incorporate personal interests into chapter programming. Sisterhood events include Bid Day, Big/Little Reveal Week, Sisterhood Retreat, as well as many other optional events throughout the semester to strengthen our bond and have some fun!

 

BID DAY

On Bid Day, the last day of recruitment, Phi Mu receives its new members! This past year, new Phis were paired with a Phi Mu to enjoy a day of celebrating, roller skating, and getting to know their new sisters! This was a great opportunity for the new members to meet one another and be officially introduced to the chapter!

 

BIG/LITTLE REVEAL WEEK

Every Phi (new member) receives an initiated sister as her "big" to mentor her, creating an everlasting bond. For a week, littles receive gifts from their unknown bigs, and accompanying each gift is a clue to help the little figure out the identity of her big. At the end of the week, an exciting ceremony is held during which big sisters reveal their identities to their little sisters!

SISTERHOOD RETREAT

Each year, the sisters of Phi Mu go on an overnight sisterhood retreat. This spring, we traveled to Charleston, SC for a day trip and spent the day shopping, eating, and exploring! We also participated in numerous different bonding activities all thanks to our VP of Chapter Development, Abbie! These retreats are important to the sisters of Lambda Theta because we truly cherish our special bond.

SISTERHOOD EVENTS

Throughout the year, our VPCD and VPO work together to plan events for sisters to attend to continue to strengthen our bond and have some fun together! Some events this year included a yoga class, tote bag painting at the Phi Mu house, a picnic/photoshoot at the State House downtown, and many movie nights with popcorn and snacks for all of our sisters!

 

The friendships that are made through Phi Mu continue long past graduation from Carolina!
